October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Learn how Ana Cramer of Fort Myers, FL is raising funds and awareness.
Ana Cramer of Fort Myers, FL is spreading awareness through her fundraising efforts. She’s raised more than $37,000 for breast cancer research over 13 years – and this year has been no different.
Ana lost her mother to breast cancer as a young child, and her sister is a two-time breast cancer survivor. To honor her mother, sister, and friends in their battles against breast cancer, Ana fundraises with a commitment to walk 100 miles each October.
Unfortunately, Ana faced a setback when Florida was struck by Hurricane Helene and Milton. She could not walk for two days as scheduled. Yet thanks to the support and encouragement of her family and friends, Ana persevered and completed her 100 mile walk by October 13, meeting her goal.
This year, more than 100 neighbors, friends, and family members surprised Ana by wearing pink as they joined her and her family on the last mile of her walk, allowing Ana to complete the walk surrounded by the love and support of her network.
“I am blessed and humbled by the overwhelming support! Thanks to everyone who donated, walked, and sent encouraging messages,” wrote Ana.
