The Thomas Team of Dallas, TX is making an impact in their community through support of a local camp for children facing chronic medical and physical challenges.
The team sponsored a weekend camp program and stuffed backpacks with comfort items for campers at Camp John Marc, a local nonprofit in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Each Camp John Marc program provides confidence, community and classic summer camp experiences with dignity to children who would not otherwise have access to these types of programs.
Twenty-five members of the Thomas team spent more than six and a half hours thoughtfully crafting personalized backpacks for Camp John Marc campers. These special backpacks included snacks, flashlights, pillowcases, blankets, hats, and more to brighten the weekend for the campers. The weekend engaged three groups from Dallas’ children’s hospitals: those experiencing lupus, those battling cancer and those with cranial deformities.
The project was inspired by an employee’s recent family experience.
“After one of our employees’ children was comforted by a blanket during her hospital stay, we were inspired to find ways to support the hospital. This led us to discover Camp John Marc, which, as luck would have it, turned out to be our next-door neighbor!” said Hope McTaggart, Thomas Team Chief of Staff.
