CCM Cares Spotlight: Feeding Wayne County

Updated January 28, 2026

The Shanlian Team of Wayne County, Ohio is making a difference by addressing food insecurity among at-risk youth.

The Shanlian Team recently partnered with OHuddle, a nonprofit organization focused on mentorship and providing opportunities to over 700 at-risk adolescents across 23 school buildings in their community. The executive director of OHuddle reached out to share that food insecurity has been increasingly affecting children in the area, and the Shanlian Team jumped right in.

The team connected with their local Walmart and secured donations of over 2,800 snacks each month, including fresh fruits, granola bars, water, juice and tea. They also bought 8 refrigerators for various school locations to ensure that donated food can be maintained throughout the month.

This month, the Shanlian Team is hosting a Cocoa Express event where families will be treated to a festive train ride. The team is cooking over 100 full meals for the families to take home with them, serving over 250 people in total. The Shanlian Team has made it their mission to ensure no child goes hungry in Wayne County and will continue to partner with OHuddle to further serve families and children in need.
